Full Spectrum cDNA synthesis kit

Q:	How should I prepare or purify my RNA prior to Full Spectrum cDNA synthesis?
A:	We have tested both RNA fractionation using spin column kits and compared it to using Trizol-extracted total RNA preparations with comparable results.
Q:	Is Full Spectrum sensitive enough for me to profile mRNAs from FFPE samples?
A:	Yes. This is one of Full Spectrum's strengths in that it selectively converts messenger RNA and not ribosomal RNA into cDNA.

Interferon Response Detection kit

Q:	Are the primer sets in the IRD kit compatible with both conventional RT-PCR and with real-time qPCR?
A:	Yes. SBI has tested the primer sets for the target and control genes in both types of applications.
Q:	How is the positve control cDNA in the IRD kit made?
A:	MRC-5 and HEK 293 cells were grown to confluency in a T-75 format flask, and then transfected with 500 ng/ml of a long poly(I)-poly(C) dsRNA sequence (Sigma, Cat. # P9582). Total RNA was prepared from treated (+) and mock transfected (-) control cells at 2, 8, 24, and 48 hours after transfection. The expression levels of OAS1, OAS2, MX1, ISGF3g and IFITM1 genes were determined by end-point RT-PCR (27 cycles) and using qPCR according to the protocol described in the kit.
